Contributed technology is technology that each participating organization has been working on and wishes to contribute to a wider community. It may be instantiated in software, operating services, digital libraries, or in written papers. Contributed technology must at least be in an "alpha" stage of development; it includes the source code, services and data which can be accessed, permission to use, and basic documentation.
A significant goal of the CS-TR project is, to the maximum extent possible, to encourage and support interoperation of contributed technologies. Interoperation means, at least, having the capacity to access data from the other participating institutions; it may also include interoperating at the software level.
