Julia J. Tierney
Julia J. Tierney became Treasurer and Corporate Secretary of Corporation for National Research Initiatives (CNRI) after election at the June 2016 Board Meeting.
Ms. Tierney graduated from George Mason University in 1985 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
She worked for a large local CPA firm in Alexandria, Virginia performing audits and for a large Virginia engineering firm, where she was responsible for the operations of the accounting division.
Ms. Tierney opened a private accounting practice in 1988, where she has performed accounting services, tax preparation and consulting for over a hundred business and individual clients. She also successfully mediated various personal and business dissolutions.
CNRI engaged Ms. Tierney as an independent consultant shortly after its formation and she has been involved in its growth since its inception. She has worked closely with CNRI employees and outside auditors in guiding the policies, procedures and financial standards for the organization and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and government requirements.
As of July 1, 2015, Ms. Tierney became an employee of CNRI where she is currently Comptroller. As such, she is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, financial management, project administration and business office activities for the company.
